Cardiff’s John Lewis Carpark Full Again

Shoppers return to Cardiff slowly but steadily...

A good indicator for how well the retail sector is bouncing back is to measure capacity, or lack of it, at the Welsh capital’s carparks. A visit to Cardiff earlier today at lunchtime saw a mere sixteen spaces available on sub-level 2. To give you an idea how bad it was, three weeks ago barely one level had any cars parked there at all.

The lovely ladies at Molton Brown opposite St David’s 2 said they were optimistic and had enjoyed growing sales since restrictions have eased.

So things are looking up. Several retailers I spoke to have noticed an upturn in traffic and spend. The general concesus is we’re no out of the woods yet but there is some light starting to break through. The government’s figures showed slightly disappointing growth but it was marginal so there’s much to be positive about, and with restrictions set to ease even more, steady growth seems the order of the day.

Fingers crossed.

Love Molton Brown – great products and excellent customer service.
